Who We Are

For more than 25 years, Family Service Canada has been representing the concerns of families and community-based social service agencies across Canada.

In 2009, Family Service Canada re-focused its mandate to better support the needs of individual community-based social service agencies across the country. Armed with a new mission—Family Service Canada is a national not-for-profit organization that promotes learning and the exchange of expertise through the dynamic relationships between executive leaders of family serving organizations in Canada—FSC is well-positioned to tackle some of the most significant and pressing issues, trends, and challenges facing not-for-profit leaders in the social service sector in Canada.

The new Family Service Canada will support its membership with leadership development, networking, and opportunities for information exchange as well as providing a national perspective to key issues. The vision for Family Service Canada is to be a vibrant network of exceptional family serving organizations building capacity in communities across Canada.

Principal membership in FSC is made up of 33 community agencies from across Canada with annual budgets ranging from $500,000 to over $22,000,000. We also have a number of associate and supporting members who support the goals of FSC and whose work helps us further our mission.

We are governed by a Board of Directors made up of agency leaders elected by the members. Board positions include executive members (chair, treasurer, and secretary) and directors at large. The board meets on a monthly basis.

Family Service Canada is a registered Canadian charity (charitable number: 11891-3052-RR0001)
