Cost-effective eLearning solutions include interactive online courses, flexible reporting/tracking and accreditations through CEQuick and Elevate LMS.

Essential Learning, the leading provider of eLearning services to the health and human service industry, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Family Service Canada (FSC) to provide flexible and customizable training solutions for FSC member organizations.

Family Service Canada is the first full Canadian partner of Essential Learning and we anticipate that online learning will become the preferred professional development option for FSC member organizations after reviewing the online training site and catalogue. In 2009, Family Service Canada went through a rebranding process that included a new vision and mission that is focused on supporting the learning of Executive Directors/CEOs in the family serving not for profit organizations across Canada. This new vision focused on the sharing of expertise and the transfer of knowledge. So it is timely that FSC partners with Essential Learning to create a well researched knowledge based online learning center. The catalogue of online courses that has been built for FSC members, addresses the training needs of the membership in a convenient and affordable manner.

Essential Learning offers online learning, staff compliance training and continuing education for behavioral health, mental health, addiction treatment, community health, developmental disability, community action and child welfare organizations. Courses are offered through an individual course-by course purchase option through CEQuick and through the state-of-the-art Learning Management System – ElevateTM LMS – which includes a comprehensive course library, enrollment, tracking, and reporting features that will help members save money and deliver training more efficiently.

Benefits Include:

Access to a catalogue of 800+ of courses in wide ranging topics

Individual professionals can select and purchase courses with CE Credits

Completion certificates for continuing education

Develop career paths for employees to prepare them for a new position or promotion

Automate annual training – saves staff time

“FSC is pleased to partner with Essential Learning to offer affordable quality training to our members. I feel confident that with such a superior product like EL online training our members will benefit from this added value to their membership” said Heather Underhill, Operations Manager of Family Service Canada.

FSC members get a 10% discount on any course accessed through the http://fsc.CEQuick.com and 10% discount on ElevateTM LMS licensing fees. Contact 800-729-9198 x266 for more information.

Family Services Canada is moving the Executive Leadership Summit to October, rather than the usual February. The change of the event timing will make travel easier, reducing delays often caused by severe winter storms as well as allow the organization to incorporate the Annual General Meeting into the event. The change in timing also brings a bit of a change in format, with an afternoon added to be dedicated to fseap presentations and discussions.

The format will be more interactive and provide an opportunity for members to present their programs or other topics that would be of interest to the network. Plenty of opportunities for informal discussions around the challenges leadership face daily in the nonprofit sector will also be provided.

This year’s event will be held on October 19 – 21, 2011 at the Kingbridge Conference Centre in King City, ON (30 Minutes north of Toronto). The Kingbridge Conference Centre is located on acres of land, with many amenities in a beautiful setting. You can learn more about Kingbridge Conference Centre by visiting their website at www.kingbridgecentre.com.

Registration and other details to follow shortly.

Family Service Canada welcomes Sue Mallon of Family Service Canada to the role of Interim Board Chair. Sue replaces Teri Nicholas who relinquished the role due to a career change that saw her moving to the health care sector.

We thank Teri for her outstanding drive and commitment to Family Service Canada. Teri was instrumental in establishing our strategic objectives and redefining our mandate and purpose—all with a view to revitalizing the Family Service Canada network. Teri spent the past 30 years of her career in the social service sector. Her contributions are many and she will be missed. We wish her well in her new endeavour.
