WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT F&ST CANADA
Home > Programs & Projects > Families & Schools Together Canada >

Families participating in the program report significant improvements in family relationships, self-esteem, motivation and cohesiveness. Results after 8 weeks show significant improvements in the child’s classroom behaviours, home behaviours, self-esteem, in family closeness, in parent involvement in school and reduction of social isolation. Children continue to improve and some parents self-refer for counselling and substance abuse treatment, get jobs, go back to school and attend more community events.

“Since coming to Families & Schools Together Canada, my (children) and I have had dinner together for the first time in approximately four years, the time together was special.”

Families & Schools Together Canada Graduate, Calgary, Alberta

  HAUT DE PAGE
“I see Families & Schools Together Canada as a ‘protective buffer’…as it educates children about their right to a drug-free life, helps strengthen family ties, builds a strong self-image in young children by allowing them to have a voice in the family decision-making process and allows families to talk about their feelings, teaching them to tolerate the uncomfortable ones and express more about the joyful moments.”

Counsellor, YMCA Peel, Ontario Youth Substance Abuse Program

  HAUT DE PAGE
“Our previous two years of involvement with this family did not have as positive an impact as the eight-week Families & Schools Together Canada session. We now have another parent advocate who embodies the power of Families & Schools Together Canada.”

Former Principal of McHugh Public School, Brampton, Ontario

  HAUT DE PAGE
"It was nice to hear that the other parents had some of the same problems I have. I didn't feel so alone or that I was the only one."

Families & Schools Together Canada Graduate, Mississauga, Ontario

  HAUT DE PAGE
“(Parent time) was a very nice way to talk about your frustrations about raising children and it was comforting to find others with similar problems and even getting a few ideas on how to deal with and cope with these concerns.”

Families & Schools Together Canada Graduate, Winnipeg, Manitoba

  HAUT DE PAGE
“I haven’t seen a program that produces results as quickly and as consistently as this program in nearly 30 years. I can’t say enough good about it!”

Families & Schools Together Canada Team Leader, Hamilton, Ontario

  HAUT DE PAGE
“I feel a sense of comfort in speaking with some teachers now. Before it seemed that the teachers were somewhat above us, and that discouraged me from discussing some issues with them.”

Families & Schools Together Canada Graduate, Saint John, New Brunswick

  HAUT DE PAGE
“(F&ST Canada) gave a chance to get to know more people from the community and an opportunity for open discussion with other parents.”

Families & Schools Together Canada Graduate, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
